Our Entrepreneurial Journey
My entrepreneurial journey began with a deep concern about the increasing adulteration in food, especially milk and milk products, and its adverse impact on public health. This concern inspired me to establish NANDINI Gir Farms Private Limited with a clear vision to provide pure, non-adulterated, and best-quality milk to the people of Jharkhand.
The idea originated from my desire to ensure safe and healthy milk for my family and society at large. I strongly felt that access to quality food is essential, and this belief became the foundation of my entrepreneurial journey. We started by nurturing cows on our own farm, focusing on ethical and hygienic dairy practices to maintain the highest standards of milk quality.
While managing the dairy farm, we were motivated to utilize cow dung effectively, which led us towards organic farming. This sustainable approach helped us expand into organic agriculture and agriculture-based products, promoting environmental balance and soil health. However, despite producing high-quality organic products, we faced significant challenges in marketing and promoting them.
To overcome these difficulties, I took a bold decision to establish our own retail chain named Organic Basket. This step proved to be a major turning point in our journey. Over time, Organic Basket successfully partnered with Amazon (with Reliance Signature in Jharkhand), Flipkart, and other e-commerce platforms. Additionally, we developed our own website to sell and promote organic products directly to consumers.

Another significant milestone occurred when I visited a dealer’s office to purchase agriculture-based machinery for our farm. During this visit, I interacted with PMFME officials, who informed me about the PMFME scheme. At that time, despite our growing presence in the market, we were facing a shortage of funds.
The PMFME scheme, along with the CGTMSE loan facility, proved to be extremely encouraging. After understanding the benefits of the subsidy and credit guarantee support, I decided to move towards value-added food processing by installing primary and secondary processing machinery. Under the CGTMSE scheme, we received a bank loan of ₹28 lakhs, along with a ₹10 lakhs subsidy through PMFME.
With this support, our enterprise witnessed significant growth. We successfully transformed the company from a loss-making stage to achieving more than ₹50 lakhs in revenue, and we are now close to reaching our break-even point. This progress has strengthened my confidence and motivated me to plan a larger manufacturing and processing unit in Jharkhand.
In the coming phase, we aim to establish an industrial unit capable of producing a wide range of value-added products, including bakery items, millet-based pasta, bread, milk, and milk products, on a larger scale. This expansion will further contribute to food processing, value addition, and economic development in the region.
I sincerely thank the Government of India and the Government of Jharkhand for their continuous support in promoting entrepreneurship through various schemes and initiatives. Through our journey, we have also generated employment for 20 workers, both on our farms and in field operations, thereby supporting rural livelihoods.
My entrepreneurial journey reflects how vision, perseverance, and timely government support can transform a small idea into a sustainable and impactful enterprise. I firmly believe that such initiatives can play a vital role in strengthening the rural economy, ensuring food safety, and contributing to a self-reliant India.
